Because everyone’s needs and experiences differ, I believe that having a therapist that is trained in many different areas is an essential function. Allowing the patient to be in the “driver Seat” of their treatment is the most important part of developing the coping skills necessary for healing.  I believe in catering to the needs of all patients in a way that is responsive to their cultural and spiritual beliefs. As a therapist I follow a Person-Centered Approach to counseling. I believe the best treatment plans are those created tailored to each individual client's needs. Similarly in group therapy I believe each group is different and each group experience should be tailored to what the specific group needs. I pride myself on being versatile and able to work with any and all cultures and ethnic groups. Each client presents different ideologies, different beliefs, different problems, different mental states, and differing experiences; to properly counsel or help a client you have to meet them where they are at and create an effective plan according to their needs and wants. This requires flexibility and a non-rigid mindset to properly counsel each client and using different tools and techniques dependent on the client's specific situation and temperament.

Mental and emotional wellbeing significantly impacts how we present and navigate in every aspect of life. However, many of us have learned to live through the lens of survival which ultimately invalidates the mental and emotional impact of our experiences. As a culturally sensitive clinician of color, I fully understand the impact our identity has on our lived experiences.

I believe that a well-built relationship between client and therapist is the cornerstone of effective psychotherapy. As such, I aim to create an empathic, non-judgemental environment, where vulnerability is rewarded, and where clients can feel safe to explore and gain deeper insight into their emotions, thoughts, relationships, and experiences. My primary focus is to cultivate a safe and warm environment where I can help you find your voice. Together, we can tackle the past, present, and future. The order doesn’t matter. What is most important is the fact that you have taken the courageous 1st step toward self-improvement.

I am currently a student in the Mental Health Counseling Program at NYIT. I started my Mental Health Counseling journey because I wanted to help as many people as I could when I was younger. So when I decided that I wanted to become a doctor but after chemistry class, I decided to reevaluate my decision. I still wanted to help people and be a part of the health field and after taking Psychology 101 in my first year of college I decided that I want to become a Mental Health Counselor. Also being a part of the South Asian community mental health and therapy are rarely discussed. I wish to bring attention to the importance of discussing the mental health and well-being of a person. I am here for the clients and I will try to help the client achieve the goal they set out for themself.
